What? Girls Go To the Bathroom Together.
I underwent a personal transformation in 2004 that involved chicken tikka masala. Literally, fell in love and went balls-out bonkers over Indian cuisine. After sampling approximately 12 Indian restaurants all over Chicago, I met The One. The Indian Grill [2258 N. Clark St., Chicago]. Not only is the young Punjabi Playboy proprietor, Ram, entertaining and full of party time stories on his yacht, but his food is AMAZING. Seriously, the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. For years, I loyally returned to Ram on a weekly basis. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore and just had to go to India (where the food wasn’t as good as Ram’s. I realize this is ridiculous, but true.)
On a recent business trip to Chicago (since I am a business woman) I made a homecoming visit to The Indian Grill. Besides for Ram trading his motorcycle for a wife (that came out wrong…he got married and had to sell the hog…or maybe there was a trade, I didn’t ask ) and choosing some great Benjamin Moores, nothing had changed. I brought a friend and ordered my stand-bys: samosa chaat, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and naan.
While anxiously awaiting the first course, I remembered what makes The Indian Grill extra special. Not the chutneys, not the mango lassis, not the pappadums…but the women’s bathroom.
This is freaking hilarious. I dare someone to pee with a pal, and keep a straight face. Absurd. Clearly there is only one source of inspiration for this lavatory design: The Love Toilet. SNL circa 1991 with Kevin Nealon and Victoria Jackson. Not that funny now, but as a 10-year old in 1991 drinking Jolt Cola in my parents basement rewinding the VCR for multiple playbacks, this most likely resulted in a little peeinmypants.
Enjoy!
